Caries & Cavities

Cause:

Improper cleaning leads to food remaining on tooth surface, allowing bacteria to digest this food and produce acids that will destroy the tooth surface.

If left untreated, acids will soften the outer layers of the tooth and form cavities, which will continue penetrating the tooth structure until they affect nerves and cause an inflammation. If case is allowed to progress, the inflammation will lead to an abscess and facial swelling.

Prevention:

  • Follow Bloom Dent Tips for Proper Mouth Cleaning.
  • Avoid snacks between meals, and clean your teeth after meals.
  • Visit Bloom Dent regularly (One visit every six months).
  • Consider using dental sealants (sealing material that is applied to back teeth to act as a barrier, protecting them from bacterial acids).
  • Use fluoride topically (toothpaste).
  • Use re-calcifying and neutralizing agents (Available in Bloom Dent) to fight the progression of decay.
